Hand in Paw’s Resilience pillar focuses on Animal-Assisted Activities that support emotional well-being, stress relief, social connection, and recovery during times of pressure, transition, or challenge.
These services are often less clinical than Animal-Assisted Therapy, but they are still intentional, structured, and deeply meaningful. Therapy Teams create opportunities for people to pause, connect, regulate emotions, and experience comfort in the presence of a trained animal and caring handler.
Resilience-focused visits may support people experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, isolation, burnout, or emotional fatigue.
Animal-Assisted Activities provide meaningful human-animal interactions that enhance quality of life and promote emotional well-being. Unlike Animal-Assisted Therapy, these visits are not usually tied to formal treatment goals or clinical documentation.
Therapy Teams visit healthcare workers to reduce stress and support staff wellness.
Teams visit during high-stress periods to create moments of calm and connection.
Support for first responders, law enforcement, and community groups after difficult events.
Visits that promote empathy, trust, emotional regulation, and meaningful connection.
Wags for Wellness is part of Hand in Paw’s Resilience pillar.

The program has since expanded to include additional healthcare facilities, first responders, schools, workplaces, and community organizations.
Through Wags for Wellness, specially trained Therapy Teams offer restorative moments of connection for people who spend their lives caring for others.
