Paws for Heart Health

TALES BLOG / Paws for Heart Health: Hand in Paw Goes Red for Women

Hand in Paw is partnering with the American Heart Association of Alabama on National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 7! 🐾 ❤️

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, claiming more lives than all cancers combined? Yet, only 44% of women know this fact. Women are also less likely to receive bystander CPR, and research on heart health has historically been male-focused. It’s time to change that!

This Friday, February 7, Hand in Paw is teaming up with the American Heart Association of Alabama for National Wear Red Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness for women’s heart health.

The Go Red for Women movement, led by the American Heart Association, is working to close these gaps through education, advocacy, and research. But they need all of us — two-legged AND four-legged friends alike — to help spread the message!

The Heart-Pet Connection

Did you know that snuggling with a pet is good for your heart — literally? Research shows that regular interaction with animals can:

🐾  Lower blood pressure & cholesterol
🐾  Reduce stress & anxiety
🐾  Increase fitness levels
🐾  Boost overall happiness & well-being

In fact, spending time with a Therapy Dog or Cat can have a paws-itive impact on both emotional and physical health. That’s why we’re proud to support the Go Red for Women movement — because healthy hearts and happy tails go hand in paw!

How Hand in Paw is Supporting Wear Red Day

At Hand in Paw, we know that our Therapy Animals have a heart for helping others, so we wanted to celebrate National Wear Red Day in style! We rolled out the red carpet for a special photo shoot, featuring Therapy Teams in their most fetching red attire. From hats and glasses to boas and tutus, these fabulous furry friends were dressed to impress — all to help us spread awareness about the importance of women’s heart health.

On Friday, February 7, we’ll share these adorable photos on Facebook and Instagram! We hope these paws-itively precious pics remind all of our supporters — including YOU — to take care of your heart and help spread the word.
